I
shallow breaths,
the icy air in her lungs,
the willows weep with the requiem she sung.
it is not fear that grips her, nor the beating of the drum.
for this world says "go!"
and the grave says "come.."
"what if there's no heaven?"
she says as she looks up,searching for the light.
her voice slowly whispers and echoes through the night
her wings are broken as she fell to the earth, exiled from heaven, from the land she gave birth.
II
a tear drops her eye as she curses and points at the sky.
she looks down, sees a broken wrist form the fall and starts to cry,
"have you forgotten who i am? i ask you... i ask you for a reason why? ...why does thou wrath stay eternal? and why does yea consider my actions as infernal?" thy words truthful yet subliminal,
thy actions; subtle but carnal. this earth where thee have exiled souls,
a place of mockery, death and deciet.
a place where swords are exchanged for plows
and where suffering does not retreat.
III
why here? i ask you?!
as she fell to her knees.
by that time she felt a soft yet searing breeze.
a familiar voice she hears,
a voice that even the devil himself came to fear.
t'was as loud as a thunderclap,
the ground shook, then a golden bow with a silver arrow landed on her lap.
the sky rumbled, the sun grew dim. the hills around her melted and the air grew thin.
she stood in awe with what was happening around her.
as fire rained from above,
she scrambled for cover.
IV
all of a sudden, after moments that seemed so endless, everything halted.
like a miracle, everything around her was altered.
no more weeping willows, no more darkness.
she was so confused and she fell into duress.
something inside her was slowly taking control,
t'was making her answer the call.
the voice once again felt near,
though it was not as loud as it was and the words it said was now clear.
V
"isobelle, my daughter,i will give you a chance at redemption, but you must understand that what you did has it's repercussions. exile is a small price to pay.
things will be back to the way it was if you do as i say."
he whispers in her ear indistinctly,
her eyes grew big as she
fell back to the ground
she woke up sometime after, t'was a dream too good and there she had no reason for laughter.
VI
"i was already home" she says to herself.
but i woke up in the same place where i found myself
lying on the ground with my wings broken.
it was the fall when i was struck so hard that the skies parted open.
next thing i remember,i could barely stand; much less speak.
But now as she looked down, the bow and arrow is at her feet.
she looked up and saw a star to the south it was pointing,
she got up and felt that her hand was no longer hurting.
"it has healed!" she exclaimed in a child-like fashion,
she felt something missing, and that definitely changed her disposition.
VII
her wings were missing, and her halo was no longer there.
her sanity was slowly slipping
because she felt alone and bare.
t'was like living an execution
but then her sanity clung and it reminded her of redemption.
though that road was a task unwillingly taken, dark and winding but the father could not have been mistaken.she started her journey not knowing what lies ahead, not knowing if at the end of that road she would turn up dead.so now she walks with bow and arrow at hand, following the star above pointing her towards an uncharted land. she should never look back just like the father told her. she clutches her cross and wishes that the nightmare was over.
VIII
she was now walking for days,
through a desert known only as angustia, it was scorching hot like the soils of hades but at night it was freezing like the tundra. she felt weary, she felt unsettled. this was quite uncommon for her but with the force of her will she wrestled. she wondered why does she feel hunger and thirst because to her knowledge, this was the first.
then it struck her... the thought sent a chill down her spine. a cold drop of sweat galzed her brow, and she knew this was a sign. she was mortal! a faint "no" was the last thing she said before she collapsed. vultures were circling above her and the day has now lapsed.
IX
when the dawn broke and the skies became illuminated, a loud crash woke her and she knew the events were fated. an asura emerged from the dunes and pointed it's sickle
to her direction. silently she mouthed a chant for protection.
the creature slowly approached, weapon raised as if in a killing position. it's scales were gold and it's eyes were bloodshot, as it drew nearer, she knew she had at least one shot. she held her bow and loaded the arrow, she aimed for the head to send the creature back to it's barrow.
amazingly, the asura catched her projectile, though the arrow did not kill it, the asura's hand was burned. she was perplexed with the reflexes of this "reptile" and how it seems that the tables have turned.
X
the ground rumbled and she was petrified by what she saw.
beyond the horizon an army of asuras darkening the desert's scarlet sands without flaw. thus was a sight that would make even the hardest souls cower and even make the most ruthless warlords shiver. then, when she was about to abandon all hope, there was a sliver thrown from behind her. it was nothing like she has ever seen before.
